Reflexology: …… Working on pressure points 45min

Reflexology is a gentle, potent treatment which involves stimulating points known as reflex areas or zones on the feet, hands and ears but most commonly the feet.

Reflexology is not a diagnostic therapy. A reflexologist will seek to bring about balance in the body through working the reflex zones with its corresponding effect on the part of the body the zone relates to. Reflexology is a natural, drug-free approach to relaxing the body and mind. It balances the circulatory, excretory, digestive, endocrine and immune system, helping the body to expel toxins and promote healing.

In the feet for example, there are reflex areas corresponding to all parts of the body and these areas are arranged in such a way as to form a map of the body, with the right foot corresponding to the right side of the body and the left foot corresponding to the left side of the body e.g. the big toe represents the head and neck and working in this area can relieve migraine headaches.

A Reflexologist detects deposits and imbalances in the reflex zones and by working on these points, can release blockages and restore the free flow of energy to the whole body, easing tension, promoting circulating and improving elimination.

How Does Reflexology Work? The premise behind reflexology is that following illness, stress, injury or disease the body is in a state of imbalance and vital energy pathways can be blocked which prevent the body from functioning efficiently. Reflexology can be used to restore and maintain the body’s natural equilibrium and encourage healing.

The Benefits of ReflexologyFoot massage

  • Reduces tension and stress and induces deep relaxation
  • Alleviates tension/migraine headaches
  • Alleviates sinus problems
  • Benefits hormonal imbalances
  • Ameliorates back problems
  • Helpful in sleep disorders/insomnia
  • To ease constipation/diarrhoea
  • To ease respiratory problems
  • Improves circulation
  • Balances and revitalises the body.

With approximately 75% of all illnesses said to be linked to stress, it’s not surprising to see the growing popularity of reflexology as a means of feeling healthy through stress relief. Stress can drain the immune system, leading to a greater susceptibility to colds and flu but can also cause tension which for example, can result in neck and shoulder stiffness and headaches. After treatment and for several days afterwards there can be an increase in wellbeing and energy.

Reiki: …… Working on pressure points 45min

The origins of Reiki are from Japan and Reiki’s purpose is for balancing energy and de-stressing the person based on the channelling of energy at various frequencies. The concept of energy isn’t new. The idea that energy exists and flows through all living beings is something that ancient cultures fully understood and wrote about. Maybe you have read about of heard about the Chinese meridian system or the Indian chakra system. Ancient Eastern philosophy reveals to us that when energy flows freely and it is in abundance, the individual enjoys greater overall health. However, if there is a blockage or restriction and the flow of energy is reduced then the individual is more prone to illness.

Many people believe that the origins of Reiki extend back in time to the 1800’s because Reiki has roots in a variety of oriental traditions that were popular in Japan around this time. These include traditional Japanese Hand Healing, energy cultivation techniques, martial arts, Chi Kung, Shintoism, and mystical Buddhism. In its original Japanese form, Reiki was seen as a path to enlightenment, by completing energy work on yourself and well as with other people. The energy that we work with when we use this technique is also called Reiki. So although most Reiki Practitioners will treat other people, dedicated Reiki Practitioners will also treat themselves too.

Reiki Is it made up of two distinct characters: Rei and Ki. Rei means ‘universal’ or ‘spiritual’; ki means ‘life force’ or ‘vital energy’ has an equivalent meaning in nearly every ancient language (‘ka’ in Egyptian, ‘prana’ in Sanskrit, ‘chi’ in Chinese, ‘ruach’ in Hebrew, or ‘pneuma’ in Greek).

What are the Benefits of Reiki?

Reiki enables you to;

    • Feel more ‘laid back’, calmer, content and serene
    • Feel more positive and better able to cope
    • Boost your energy levels if they are low
    • Be able to handle and be less affected by stressful situations and stressful people.
